Behind The Scenes of ‘Creating at Scale’

Innovation and creativity are all about taking risks; about having the space and the freedom to experiment. This is the environment and culture we are cultivating at Here East – one that we couldn’t create without the dedication of our talented security team.

Part of Here East since 2018, Tudor Williams is our Site Security Account Manager, who oversees strategic planning, events and the security team on our campus, who work hard behind the scenes to keep our community safe.

To learn about his story at Here East, we sat down with Tudor to find out more about his team and how they bring our ‘Create At Scale’ culture to life every day.

Tell us about your favourite memories at Here East so far?

Tudor: “Here East has provided me with the platform to learn and professionally develop in the industry. Some of my highlights in this time have been managing the Prime Minister's visit in 2019, winning an Outstanding Security Performance Award (OSPA) in 2025 for our Here East Safety Initiative, and most recently planning and managing the security requirements for our first ever live TV broadcast, with “Stand Up 2 Cancer” being filmed at LMA Studios on our campus in December 2025.”

How do you bring the campus’ ‘Create At Scale’ culture to life in your department?

Tudor: “For me, ‘Create at Scale’ is about collaborating and remaining flexible to progress a project to its end goal. In security, we’re constantly balancing structure with innovation; scaling best practise while remaining flexible enough to support a diverse and fast-moving campus.

“I try to encourage problem solving, open communication, and ownership within the team so we’re not just reacting – but actively shaping how security supports the wider Here East ecosystem.”

What would you say is the most rewarding part of your work?

Tudor: “Knowing that what our team does enables everything else to function smoothly.

“When people feel safe, they can focus on creating, building and innovating. Seeing a well-organised operation (or event) running smoothly in the background – especially during high-pressure events or incidents – is incredibly satisfying.”

What is something new you’ve learned – or a perspective that’s shifted – since you started your career?

Tudor: “One big thing has been understanding that leadership isn’t about having all the answers all the time. It’s about asking the right questions and actively listening to the right people.

“Earlier in my career, I thought experience and work ethic were the key. Now I understand perspective, empathy, communication and working together are just as critical as technical knowledge.”

When you’re looking to build or grow your team, what is the top quality you look for in people?

Tudor: “Proactiveness and empathy. Skills and knowledge can be taught, but being proactive and taking responsibility for your actions, your decisions, and your impact on others is crucial.

“People who care about doing things properly to a high standard whilst supporting those around them, they’re the individuals that elevate the entire team.”

Outside of the technical side of the job, what is one thing you’re passionate about achieving in 2026?

Tudor: “This year I’m passionate about continuing to develop a strong, confident team culture where people feel valued, supported and motivated to grow their own skills and knowledge.

“I’m currently finalising a 5-year strategy plan to enhance all security requirements around the campus, and within this first year my focus is on strengthening standards. If we can create an environment where the team enjoys coming to work, where they feel proud of what they do, understand how they contribute to the wider Here East ecosystem, and are confident in their roles and responsibilities – everything else falls into place.”
